Altınbeşik Cave is a seasonal attraction in the Taurus Mountains. Heavy rains and melting snow flood the underground lake, making it unsafe for boat tours during half the year.

When is the best time to visit Altinbesik Cave?

The best time to visit is during summer and autumn, from June through November.

During these months, the water levels in the underground lake drop to safe levels. This allows the guided inflatable boats to operate. July, August, and September offer the most reliable conditions.

Why is Altınbeşik Cave closed in winter?

The cave closes in winter and early spring because high water levels flood the cavern.

Heavy precipitation and melting mountain snow fill the karst system. The underground lake rises drastically, making boat access impossible. Access to the cave is strictly prohibited during this time.

What is the temperature inside Altınbeşik Cave?

The cave maintains a constant temperature of 16°C (60°F) all year round.

Even on the hottest summer days in the Antalya region, the cave interior remains cool. You should pack a light jacket or sweater for the 15 to 30-minute boat ride. Outside in the National Park, summer temperatures will be much higher.

Is the road safe during the open season?

The mountain road is accessible in summer but remains steep and winding.

Driving inland from Manavgat takes about 1.5 hours. The route features sharp bends and deep valleys. The final 4 to 5 km stretch past Ürünlü village is particularly steep and rugged. Booking a guided excursion helps you avoid driving this route yourself.

  • Sun protection: Sunscreen and bottled water for walking in the hot summer sun outside.
  • Footwear: Comfortable hiking shoes for the rocky terrain around the park.
